Penang Laksa with Fried Popiah

Address

Persiaran Paya Terubong 2, 11900 Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang.

Opening Hours

12PM — 5.30PM (Wed to Sun) *Closed on Mon & Tues*

My Thoughts

This is the best and my personal favorite laksa in Penang and I’ve never went to any other laksa stalls after this.

It was the first time I tried laksa with fried popiah and it totally changed my life. I never knew both worked so well together, like a match made in heaven. When you dine there, make sure to dip the fried popiah in the laksa broth!

The place has a cozy environment, and although it does not have any air conditioning, it’s pretty cool during a hot day as the shop is surrounded with many plants around it. A friendly reminder from me is don’t go there too late as they tend to run out of fried popiah!

Asam or Tomyam Noodles with Fried Fish Fillet, Black Sweet Vinegar Pork Trotter Noodles

Address

No. 32, Jalan Penaga, Jelutong, 11600 Jelutong, Pulau Pinang.

Opening Hours

My Thoughts

The lady boss in this place is the friendliest and most polite person I’ve ever met, she also keeps saying xie xie ni or thank you after you order food or pay. She always gives me a warm feeling, like someone you’re related to from your family, every time I dine here.

There was a time we went back after a long while and the lady boss hugged me because she was so glad I was back to eat there, what more could make you feel more at home?

This place offers really great Asam or Tomyam Noodles together with the Fried Fish Fillet and Black Sweet Vinegar Pork Trotter Noodles, all which are fantastic in flavor. I feel these are the best dishes there but there are also other food available on the menu which are great as well like the Clear Soup Noodles which are good if you’re not feeling too well.

I feel this place deserves recognition for their food and excellent service, so make sure to visit if you can!

My Thoughts

This shop has been around for a long time and is one of the most consistent in terms of its taste.

They also have a reasonable price and recently opened a second shop behind the original shop which has air conditioning.

I love their pork noodles and they are easily the best in Penang. They also serve Tomyam noodles and other food like their yam rice which are wonderful too. If you feel like having soup on a wet and rainy day, this place definitely hits all the right spots!
